Top-of-the-league Rangershave every chance of finishing Celtics eight-year reign of dominance from the Scottish Premiership this season, based on former Hoops striker Andy Walker.
Celtic dropped following Sundays 2-0 defeat Livingston, together with Rangers sailing into a 5-0 win over Hamilton this weekend supporting their Glasgow rivals.
Rangers have been in good form since losing to Celtic at Ibrox, winning half of their last seven games, and Walker believes – regardless of the winnersfinancial edge – the Gers will choose the title race to the cable.
I think this will be a terrific season, Walker told Sky Sports News.
I believe you need to admire Rangers and the way theyve responded. Apart from this [Europa League] overcome against Young Boys, their answer was terrific.
I dont think were likely to see many points given up by Celtic and Rangers. Ironically, Celtic have followed a draw with a defeat. I think theyre going to prove to be debilitating in their pursuit for the name.
If Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe steer clear of injury that I believe Rangers have every possibility [of winning the title]. I believe to front from middle they are creating chances. Connor Goldson is looking strong at the back but hes also popping up using a goal or two.
The response because losing to Celtic was absolutely first class. And, make no doubt, the title race is going right to the close of the year
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard warned his players not to havetaken away following Sundays win as they push their first Scottish Premiership title because 2011.
Gerrards correct to downplay talk of a name race, added Walker.
However, the lovers are speaking about it every day – never mind every week – because theyre desperate to see their staff stop Celtic get their ancestral [title in a row].
Celtic have the advantage in a fiscal sense. Arguably, they have a stronger squad.
It is perhaps somewhat surprising that Neil Lennon hasnt utilised that squad somewhat longer because he mustve understood that Livingston would have made it a fight – and that the players werent ready for it.
it is a real increase for Steven Gerrard to see how his players have reacted because that defeat to Celtic at Ibrox.
