Full matte vinyl wraps are all the rage right now. They are starting to become an industry trend and they look pretty cool.

However, if you really want to stand out and be noticed above everyone else, then you need to be ahead of the trend. You may be asking yourself how do I do this? The answer is simple: offset the sleek flat look of matte vinyl with bright beautiful gloss vinyl. Thus creating a truly unique look, that will provide more depth then gloss or matte vinyl alone, and make you stand out.

The contrast between the flat matte and shiny gloss will create a visually striking appearance that cannot be ignored. This will definitely set your business apart from your competition and show that you are serious about your business. If you want to turn heads and be a trend setter, then call us today to get you vehicle wrapped with matte and gloss vinyl.

Valley Orthodontics specializes in getting things straight, mostly teeth! But they also got it straight when they came straight to us for their vehicle wrap design and print!

We worked with them extensively on their wrap design so that it would reflect their website, and the esthetic that they want to convey. Once we locked that in, we printed and shipped the film to them, and their local 3M Certified installer did a great job applying it. Our service is much like V.O’s, easy, painless and effective. Both offer outstanding results and value. As they use the vehicle around the community, they remind people they are there to help when they need orthodondic services. All their information is displayed and it keeps people reminded of what they do.

If you’d like to portray a new image to an existing business, give Marc a call at 951-684-3111 ext 109 for your wrap quote today. We’ll set you straight!

No Car? No Truck? No Problem!

Do you have a plain, undesirable portable building or trailer?

Do you want to spice up the way that your building looks?

Then call WrapVehicles.com. WE CAN HELP!

We take your undesirable portable building and make it Wraptastic!

We wrapped this building with an image of another building. Clever right?

That’s exactly what we thought. Why not show what this little trailer will someday become. A brand new Sonoma Valley Hospital. We wrapped this mobile MRI building with the architectural illustration of what the new Sonoma Valley Hospital will look like once construction is completed. The theme “We’re Building For You!” is to set the tone of what is to come.

CALL NOW!

9 5 1 – 6 8 4 – 3 1 1 1 and ask for Jared.

BAM!

Given the current state of the economy, and the fact that almost everybody has access to a computer these days, more and more people are taking the initiative and relying on their ingenuity to design their own Car Wrap.

That’s actually an awesome idea! No design fees! No interaction with whiny/fickle designers! No problem!

Well, there’s actually one problem…. you don’t know how to design one!!!

Fear not my technologically deficient/artistically challenged friend!!! Over the next couple of weeks, your good friends here at WRAPVEHICLES.COM are going to go over an easy to follow detailed process that will help educate you on how to design your very own Car Wrap correctly and efficiently. This entire series of posts will help walk you through the entire wrap process step-by-step. From how to measure your vehicle correctly, all the way to the final stages of file preparation before you send it off for production.

In this week’s post, we’ll go over the materials needed to get started. You may not have some of the items listed, and that’s ok. Borrow what you can and work with what you got. Even though you might not have everything needed to complete the wrap in it’s entirety, following along and doing what you can will help steer you in the right direction as well as giving you a more definitive idea of what you might want or need for your Car Wrap. This will be incredibly helpful incase you have to hand off the design to a Printing Company or a Design Agency at some point in this process. There’s nothing more annoying to some over-caffeinated dirty hipster of a Designer than actually trying to figure out what you want if you’re not sure of it yourself. (That and working.)

Below is a checklist including all the necessary materials needed to get started. Most of these items can be found in any household, others might be a little more challenging to obtain. As stated earlier, work to the best of your abilities with what you have at your disposal and good things will follow.

Now go out and collect these materials!!! Don’t worry, we’ll give you some time to gather everything on this list. When you’re finally ready, come back for Part 2 in this series… How to Measure your Car.

When working with print, one of the most important things to pay attention to is resolution. Taking the time to understand the basics of image quality will help you to create artwork that is professional and clear.

I’m going to be using Photoshop here to inspect and manipulate the image, but there are also other free alternatives out there which can accomplish the same goal.

One of the first things I usually do when inspecting images for print is to look at the color mode. You can do this by going to IMAGE>MODE and taking a look at which color mode is checked. The color should either be CMYK or grayscale. You can see that the image in this example is grayscale.

Next, you can take a look at the image size. I usually try to determine how large I can make the image and then deciding whether or not that works for whatever you’re using it in. Take a look at the image size by going to IMAGE>IMAGE SIZE.

You can see the image is 18.3×12.2 inches with a resolution of 240 DPI (Dots Per Inch). Here at Monster Media, our printers require a resolution of 75 DPI to produce an acceptable print. This means that any dpi that is over DPI can be resampled to create a larger image if needed.

When you uncheck the “resample image” checkbox and change the resolution to 75 DPI, your image size will automatically adjust to show the maximum print size.

Our image turns out to have a maximum print size is 58.65×39.04 inches.

The last thing to do is zoom in to 100% and confirm that everything looks good. Here’s our image at 100%. You can see everything looks sharp and clear.

So you have decided to purchase a vehicle wrap to help promote your business.

The next thing you have to consider is design. What do you want this new marketing piece to look like? First you should consider a concept called integrated marketing communication. The basic idea behind this concept is to present a cohesive brand image across all encounters your customers have with your business, in every setting. This means that your customer receives a consistent experience (in this case visually) with your company. So your website, physical business, and all other marketing material have a similar aesthetic that your customer can recognize and associate with your brand.

With that being said this concept also applies to your vehicle wrap. When considering your design and what you want your car to look like, the color scheme is a good place to start. Your color scheme should reflect colors that are recognizable to your brand and familiar and consistent with the avenues of interaction your customers encounter. If your logo has color in it consider selecting one or two colors from that as your base colors along with black and white. Think of Monster Energy, they are known for there black and green color scheme it is incorporated into their website, products, and their vehicle wraps. Now imagine they used a blue and yellow color scheme similar to best buy. This would be very confusing and it would probably take people a while to figure out that it was monster energy. However, when you see the familiar colors matched with the logo that you recognize you instantly know and associate it with the correct brand. This way instead people trying to figure out what your brand is, they can focus on the message you are presenting.

So if you are stuck trying to figure out where to start on your vehicle wrap start with deciding on a color scheme, from there you can move on to deciding upon and focusing your message. For help with that check out Andy’s post on focusing your message.

One of the biggest problematic issues in digital printing and car wraps right now is the quality of color. A common misconception that causes this issue is people confusing what they see on their computer screen versus what actually comes out of the printer.

Why does this happen?

It’s because the color scheme on your computer screen is created by the screen emitting a combination of Red,Green, & Blue lights (or RGB). Whereas a digital printer uses a combination of 4 colors consisting of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK) for it’s color scheme.

What does this mean?

RGB is the combination of additive colors, meaning when Red Green & Blue are combined, they can create a wide range of hues and shades from the visible color spectrum, when the 3 are combined at 100%, it creates white light. CMYK is the combination of subtractive colors, meaning when combined correctly, they can subtract specific degrees of Red Green and Blue from white light to produce a significantly smaller range of selective colors.

To further break this down into terms so that a man as simple as myself can understand (I have extreme difficulty locating the funny pages in the Sunday paper), your computer uses the combination of light to create millions of colors, and your printer uses the combination of 4 colors to help create a couple of hundred of colors. This is why those bright shiny colors in your digital file that you can still see when you close your eyes look desaturated once printed.

Every single major design application (such as Illustrator & Photoshop) allows you to determine if you want your file to be created using a RGB color scheme, or a CMYK color scheme. Wait!? Why do those programs let you do that if printing a RGB image on a CMYK printer is a big no-no!?

That’s because RGB based files can be used for digital media such as websites, emails, television, film, etc.. A RGB file only becomes a problem when it’s being used for printing.

So how does a person avoid this issue when choosing colors for their car wrap while still being able to get a good idea of how their art will look once printed? There’s several different methods, one could have a Design Agency punch up a car wrap and sidestep the whole color issue personally. Another way would be to reference a Pantone Color Book while creating your file to get a good idea on how your colors will look when printed. You could also have your computer monitor and printer calibrated to match so what you see on your screen will look exactly the same when it’s printed. Unfortunately those methods can be costly for most people whose last name doesn’t end in Guggenheim.

As mentioned earlier, for those of you who are savvy D.I.Y. types or have a friend/family member who’s a Designer, you can pre-determine the color scheme for your art files. A CMYK color profile assigned to your art file might make it look a little less impressive than it would normally look as RGB, but it gives you a better handle on how your colors will look when your wrap is printed. This will help avoid any unnecessary color surprises once your wrap is completed.

The music business is no easy gig these days, getting your name out there is harder than ever. New talent has to be good and marketed well. That’s what Media Peeps specialize in doing.

When Media Peeps came to us to design and wrap the tour bus for their newest rising star M.I.C., it was a great move on their part. A savy media company knows the value of having their artist’s photo and website information driving on a 45′ bus from city to city and countless highway miles in between.

Thousands of people a day see the image and info, look up the artist, and instantly have access to their music, videos and tour info. It’s the best bang for your advertising buck!
When M.I.C. blows up, you can say you saw him first on our blog!

So you want to promote your business and you think the best way is a car wrap? One of the easiest and efficient ways to get the most bang for your buck out of a car wrap is focusing your message.

What does this mean? Have you ever had a friend you haven’t seen in forever and they feel the need to tell you about every single thing that happened in their life since you last spoke? You just want the key points, not their life story.

One common mistake made with a first wrap is trying to cram every single piece of information onto every single inch of the car, and here’s the problem with that…

… imagine trying to read this while it zips by at 60 mph, better yet, trying to figure out what type of business this car belongs to when sitting at a green light. Your natural reaction is to stare at the middle of the car, unfortunately the design splits the car in half. Don’t even bother attempting to read any of the text without your eyes crossing, you’ll need a good 10 minutes staring at the car in a parking lot to get an idea what they’re trying to sell you.

All of this information might be great, but the most important pieces of information that direct future customers to your business (website and phone number) are competing with the rest of the wrap. This is when a focused message plays a crucial role in your wrap design. The marks of a good wrap are…

1. Key Information.

Your business name/logo, phone number, and website should be the most prominent elements of the design. People need to know who you are, how to get a hold of you, and how to learn more about your business and those 3 pieces of information are imperative. Make sure they are the key focus of your design.

2. Clean and Stylish Design.

Sure flames, explosions, ornate fonts, & action balloons look wicked in comic books. On car wraps they end up looking a little juvenile and clutter the message your trying to convey. If somebody has to squint to make out the message on your car wrap, you’re doing it wrong.

3. Know your target audience.

You could get a wrap that will impress all of your friends, but guess what, they’re your friends! They’ll like anything you do anyways. If they’re the only people you want to frequent your business, that’s fine, but if you want to reach a larger more broader demographic, make sure your wrap achieves this.

Taking all of this information into consideration. A better more focused design for our good friends at Billy’s Bean Barn would look more like this…

… a clean simple design with a focused public friendly message will do wonders for your small business.
