So you have just finished designing your new vehicle wrap and now you are asking yourself what is the best way to save this file. The answer will differ some what from person to person, because everyone has different reason why the prefer certain file type over others.
However, here at Wrap Vehicles we recommend saving your files layered. There are three different file types that allow you to save layers in photoshop and in illustrator.
Illustrator: .ai, .eps, .pdf
Photoshop: .psd, .tif, .pdf
The reason we recommend these file types and ask for layered files is that this give us the flexibility we need when setting up a vehicle wrap for printing. By leaving the layers and preserving editing capabilities, we can make any necessary adjustment to the artwork to ensure that your vehicle wrap will turn out great!
If you flatten it, and/or save it in a format that does not preserve the editing capabilities, then we have no way or adjusting or altering the artwork to make sure your wrap turns out the best it can.
There are a few things to remember, when saving a pdf i illustrator, remember to check the box that says, “Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities”
In Photoshop, when saving a TIFF make sure to check, “layers” and when saving a Photoshop PDF make sure to check, “Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities”
For PDF’s the option will appear in a new dialogue box, after you hit save.
